Operating wind farms have the potential to adversely affect terrestrial television reception up to around 5km from any wind turbine. Therefore, if there are dwellings within 5km of the site, the developer should consider the potential impact on television reception.
If an object is placed between a television transmitter and a receiver, a shadow zone may develop where there is a reduction in signal strength which may reduce picture and audio quality.
We are able to carry out consultations with television operators to determine which, if any, transmitters are likely to be affected by a proposed development, and how many dwellings could be affected.
